A concert by the instrumental rock group “Godspeed You! Black Emperor” from Canada will be held in the Riga concert hall “Hanzas perons” on April 12 next year, LETA agency was informed by the representative of “Hanzas perons” Miks Magone.
According to Magone, from 1997 to 2002, the group released several albums, “changing the idea of what punk rock is”. The 2017 record “F#A#∞” and the 2000 album “Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven”, according to Poppy, are considered classics of the genre.
During its quarter-century existence, the ensemble has posed for only two publicity photos. During this time period, a couple of interviews took place, in which the musicians answered the questions collectively and in writing. The group has never had its own website or social media accounts. Also, there has never been a music video for any of the compositions.
Between 2003 and 2010, “Godspeed You! Black Emperor” went on a creative hiatus, after which they returned with concerts and the selection of the program for the then still existing festival “All Tomorrow’s Parties” in Great Britain. Since his return, hundreds of sold-out concerts have taken place and four studio albums have been released.
