Goa Turned into a Restaurant in Bali, Disbud Forms Research Team All

BADUNGKOMPAS.com- Pamong the Cultural Conservation Preservation Center (BPCB) of the Regency Culture Office (Disbud) Badung, BaliI Made Warsika, will form a team to research the cave that is used as a restaurant on Jalan Pura Goa Lempeh, Pecatu Traditional Village, South Kuta, Badung.

According to him, the team will conduct a study to find out whether the cave contains historical relics from ancient times.

“Who knows, there is an ancient life left behind and used, who knows. In a week (next) we will conduct a study,” he said while participating in a joint team that carried out sudden inspections (sidak) in caves located in the hotel area. The Edge, Badung, on Tuesday (19/7/2022).

In addition, said Warsika, this team will conduct a study starting from the origin of the formation of the cave, including its size and depth.

He said if seen with the naked eye, this cave is not man-made but formed naturally.

The area of ​​this cave is about 12 square meters and the walls are rocky in the form of stalactites and stalagmites.

“While its utilization, we can’t confirm whether the ancient people’s cave is because the team hasn’t come down yet,” he said.

Warsika added that the hotel should have made a report when they found the cave before turning it into a restaurant.

Because the modifications they do are quite risky to damage the naturalness of the cave.

“It’s quite risky because it removes the impression of nature and previous life or not,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ketut Sumatra as Financial Controller of The Edge Hotel admitted that his party did not make changes to the authenticity of the cave and only modified certain parts.

“If there is no change at all, we are as is, only the deck that we add,” he said.

Before being used as a restaurant, Sumatra said, his party had involved a team of experts to research the cave.

However, he did not mention the background of the expert team and the results of the study.

“There has been (research) , because we didn’t participate in it, we don’t know for sure, what is clear is that it already exists,” he said.
