Opinion

The Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz Edition is a technically advanced gaming mouse that primarily impresses with its ultra-light design and high precision. But for the performance you also have to pay a high price, the mouse is perhaps more than what the average gamer needs.

Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz comes with a clear promise: high performance for discerning gamers. With its price, it clearly falls into the premium class of gaming mice, but what makes it so special? And more importantly, does it live up to the high expectations the price tag gives us?

Feather-light design

The first thing you will notice is its weight, or rather how light it is. It weighs only 59 grams, and is among the lightest mice on the market. The mouse’s dimensions of 120×67 mm make it fit particularly well in medium to larger hands. The symmetrical design makes the mouse fit in the hand whether you use a palm grip, fingertip grip, or drive with the classic claw. The only indication that the Glorious Model O 2 Pro is primarily designed for right-handers is the thumb buttons on the left side of the mouse.

Despite its light weight, the Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz is not designed with hexagonal honeycomb holes like many other ultralight mice. Instead, the mouse has a classic smooth surface with some texture to improve the grip. An even more textured or rubbery surface would probably result in even better grip.

What are the specifications of the Glorious Model O 2 Pro?

The main attraction of the Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz is the bamf 2.0 optical sensor, with a sensitivity of up to 26,000 ppi and a tracking speed of 650 ips. These numbers result in exceptional precision in the most hectic mouse maneuvers. Particularly impressive is the high frequency of up to 8,000 Hz in wired mode and 4,000 Hz in wireless mode over 2.4 GHz radio, which results in a largely immediate response. However, how much it matters when you play is debatable.

The rest of your hardware must also play its part. Glorious themselves recommend a screen with a frame rate of at least 144 Hz and a 9th generation Intel Core i5 or better to fully utilize the mouse’s strengths.

The buttons

In addition to the two main buttons, a scroll wheel and a dpi button, the Glorious mouse is also equipped with two thumb buttons on the left side. All buttons can also be reprogrammed. The main buttons are equipped with Glorious’ characteristically responsive and durable optical switches. They have a response time of 0.2 milliseconds and must handle 100 million clicks during their lifetime. This results in smooth button presses, but somewhat louder than on some other gaming mice.

How is the battery life?

The battery life of the Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz is impressive with up to 80 hours in wireless mode. However, that drops to around 35 hours if you’ve maxed out the settings, so that’s something you should keep in mind when setting up your mouse settings. You can still use the mouse while charging it with the included USB-C cable.

Software and settings

You can change settings in the Glorious Core software, where you can set a lot, from dpi sensitivity to programming macro commands. The user interface is quite intuitive to understand, albeit somewhat simple in its design.

How well does the Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz Edition work?

The mouse is more than just a long list of impressive specifications. In daily gaming of various genres, from fast-paced shooters to strategy games, the mouse’s response was always accurate and without lag. The high dpi settings came in handy in really intense and fast game moments, but in other games it felt somewhat oversized. Despite its light weight, the mouse felt sturdy and well built. The surface offered a comfortable grip even during longer gaming sessions.

Should you buy the Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz Edition?

It may be a slightly more expensive gaming mouse, but the high specs prove their worth in fast-paced games. The mouse itself feels solid and comfortable in the hand, especially if you’re right-handed. Glorious Model O 2 Pro 4k/8KHz Edition delivers what it promises.
