On Thursday, the ball outfits of the debutantes of the 16th Semper Opera Ball were presented in Dresden: a glittering dream in blush rosé, designed by Uwe Herrmann. It is youthfully light and fresh, with bird appliqués and a feather with symbolic power.
Symbols for new beginnings
The debutante dress and the ball night planned for February 23, 2024 are under the motto “New beginnings. Lightness. Youthfulness”. A feather was added to the original design of the ball gown – as a symbol of youthful lightness.
Debutante Astrid Haferland is overjoyed that she will be dancing at the famous ball and was able to present the dress for the first time on Thursday: “It’s so beautiful and just feels great,” she says with a beaming smile. Like all other debutantes, she first had to pass a casting.
Debutantes from all over Germany
90 couples will make their debut at the 16th Semper Opera Ball in Dresden; around 40 percent of them were already scheduled for the Opera Ball three years ago. For many, a long-awaited dream is now coming true. They come from all over Germany. Just as the ball is a highlight for them, the ball newcomers themselves, including their outfits and specially practiced dance choreography, are also considered a highlight of the ball.
