The creators redesigned the original idea a bit and renamed it from Grease: Rydell High to Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, which signals that the main character will not be the same – the series will focus on a bunch of “pink ladies”.

Some fans of the musical cheered with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, but it is not entirely clear whether they were the victims of the mistake. Travolta will no longer be the protagonist of the story, the whole “new Pomade” has deviated a little differently and a new feminist note is emerging, among other things.

At first it seemed like a classic prequel following the main characters before the story of the famous film. Now it seems to be a series about four girls (Rizzo, Marty, Jan and Frenchy). They are supposed to be rebels who have fun according to their own rules and cause a stir at Rydell High High School. In the end, it has little to do with Pomade.

Annabel Oakes became the main author and showrunner of the series, and the executive producers will be Marty Bowen and Erik Feig. The premiere has not been set yet. Filming is expected to begin shortly.
