On “Mattino Cinque” the interview with Alessandro Gentiloni Silveri: “Married in 2010 with a religious marriage then dissolved in 2019”
To clarify the validity of marriages between Gina Lollobrigida e Francisco Javier Rigau it is precisely the lawyer of the latter who at “Morning Five” declares that the actress and her ex-husband “they got married in 2010 with a marriage recognized as valid by the Vatican justice”. “It was a religious wedding – says the lawyer Alessandro Gentiloni Silveri – then dissolved in 2019 by the Holy Father: from that moment also by church law they were no longer married”. Precisely for this reason the marriage “it is not valid under Italian civil law“.
Between Lollobrigida, passed away at the age of 95 on January 16, 2023and Rigau there was however a marriage agreement which could, in some way, affect the events of the actress’s legacy. But the lawyer explains: “That contract has no legal value in Italy. That deed, which took place in 2006, was intended to regulate certain rights and duties of the spouses and was made before the 2007 marriage, marriage strongly desired by both and that it should have been celebrated in New York with the presence of all the international jet-set. However, that contract stipulated that the marriage would be made for non-economic interests”.
On marriage by proxy Rigau’s Italian lawyer assures that there would be no anomaly. “This modality is not anomalous in the entertainment world especially when the protagonists are world-class stars. That method was chosen – the lawyer says – in order not to attract thatmorbid media interest which had already been the basis of the three cancellations of the previous marriage”, he concludes.
