Giant snake crawls between spice jars in Sydney supermarket | Abroad

Helaina Alati, 25, was quietly shopping around 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon when a snake suddenly appeared. “I turned my head and saw him about eight inches from my face,” she told the BBC. The snake kept staring at her the whole time. Alati: ,,It was like he said, can you please take me out?”

Alati works as a volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary and immediately saw that it is a non-venomous diamond python. Diamond pythons are strangle snakes, but can bite if they feel threatened.

After Alati had made a few movies, she went home to get a bag with which she could catch the snake. When she got back to the store, she patted his tail, causing it to fall into the bag. She then released the snake into nature.

Alati suspects that the snake crawled in at night. He had probably been lying on the shelf between the spice jars for hours: “Dozens of people will have passed the snake and grabbed a jar of herbs,” Alati said.
