This Saturday the Government held the commemoration of World Environment Day in Livingston, Izabal with President Alejandro Giammattei and the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Mario Rojas. At the time of his intervention, the president mentioned that a new age range of registration will be enabled for vaccination against Covid-19.
WILL ENABLE VACCINATION AGE RANGE
According to President Giammattei, registration to receive the coronavirus vaccine will be enabled in people aged 55 to 59 years, thus expanding the age range because “the vaccine is slow because people are not going.”
«We start with the oldest because they are the most vulnerable if it hits them, it can cause death, until we reach the youngest who suffer the least from this disease, convince their elders, convince people of the third age to register, to be vaccinated, “he added.

The president asked Guatemalans to appear at the vaccination centers, “please get vaccinated,” he added.
ACCESS TO DRINKING WATER
On the other hand, the president made reference to a water project for Livingston, which is 98 percent ready, indicating that the remaining 2 percent corresponds to the rights of way that must be authorized.
The president made reference to the fact that said project will cost a total of Q40 million.
In this sense, the president refers to the fact that drinking water service will be implemented in this municipality, said project is 98 percent completed, says Giammattei.

He added that upon receiving the project from Mayor Daniel Pinto, he will be transferred to one of the government’s solidarity funds to start construction and provide the municipality of Livingston with potable water.
Also, Giammattei indicated during his speech that the National Electrification Institute (INE) plans to install an energy substation in Puerto Barrios “that will improve the capacity and the amount of light that is directed towards Livingston,” he said.
In addition, as part of the celebration of the Environment Day in 22 beaches of the country, 1000 young volunteers participated in the collection of solid waste.
