The mayor of Bío Bío, Sergio Giacaman, insisted that the dismissal of two public officials last week it was what corresponded in the current health crisis.
Alvaro Toledo, advisor to the Interior, recognized the error for drunk driving, but stressed that it is only a fault from the legal point of view, and therefore describing the sanction as exaggerated.
Toledo and Mario Signorelli, provincial director of Education, were surprised in Hualpén at 02:00 a.m. last week, aboard a truck with boxes from the Food for Chile program that should be distributed.
The Carabineros party confirmed a driving under the influence of alcohol and circulation without a pass within hours of the curfew, being made available to the Prosecutor’s Office, which opened a case in which the court declared the arrest illegal.
After the incident, the mayor Sergio Giácaman ordered the dismissal of public officials, measure that this day in an interview with Radio Bío Bío defended again.
Defendant defends himself
In the same line as a statement the weekend of Mario Signorelli, his friend and also an RN activist, Alvaro Toledo, although recognized as wrong his act, questioned the mayor, describing the reaction as exaggerated.
Indeed, the defender Ricardo Terán, who successfully argued the illegal detention in the Talcahuano Guarantee Court, explained that both the violation of the curfew and driving under the influence of alcohol without causing harm is only a fault that does not contemplate the deprivation of liberty.
Hence, at least Toledo advanced to La Radio the administrative actions to try to revoke the dismissal and legally exercise defense against the fault that is imputed to him by the Public Ministry.
