The number of corona infections in the region has risen sharply since the end of July. The GGD therefore publishes the newly diagnosed infections per district. The number of corona patients is increasing, especially in West and New West.

Most infections are currently detected in young people between the ages of 13 and 30 years. Most infections seem to happen indoors.
The number of infections in Amsterdam increased from 4.5 per 10,000 inhabitants in week 31 (27 July – 2 August) to 8.1 per 10,000 inhabitants in week 32 (2 – 9 August).
In the last week, a corona infection was found in 649 Amsterdammers. In absolute numbers, the number of infections in week 32 is highest in New West (158 infections), followed by West (134 infections). The Centrum district scores highest per 10,000 inhabitants (10.1).
