GGD foreman critical of Schiphol test street: ‘If it doesn’t help, it will harm’

GGD leader André Rouvoet has commented in an interview with Faithful criticized the testing of travelers at Schiphol without complaints.

Rouvoet is afraid that this will backfire. ‘My position is: if it doesn’t work, it will harm. I’m afraid it will affect people’s behavior, give them the image they are safe. That we use tests as justification for not complying with the measures. ‘

The test lane is for certain travelers from risk areas. Some of them receive a folder from the GGD and can register afterwards have it tested. However, there is not enough space for all travelers from risk areas and the test street is only open during office hours.

Rouvoet points out that it is still an experiment. ‘If it does not make an effective contribution, if we can be more effective elsewhere with our resources, then we should do that.’

Anyone who comes from a risk area is in any case strongly advised to go into quarantine. If the test shows that a traveler is not infected with the corona virus, that advice still applies.
