Jakarta

Kampoeng Kurma recently been in the spotlight. The investment business under the guise of sharia concept is now officially bankrupt. As a result, many people have become victims.

How Kampoeng Kurma works by offering investment through selling lots. Later, this plot will be planted with dates and the results will be distributed to the owner.

However, over time, people who have invested do not see the results. As a result, their money was gone. The following is the journey of Kampoeng Kurma until it was declared bankrupt:

1. Victims Shout Money Disappear

One of the victims, Irvan Nasrun explained, initially Kampoeng Kurma offered investment to the community by selling lots. The plots will be planted with dates, the proceeds of which will be distributed to the plot owners.

However, Irvan, who has invested his money since early 2018, admitted that he had not seen a single date tree planted in his plot.

“And the date palms have not been planted yet, because there is no funds. To my surprise, the buyer’s money could run out,” he told detik.com, Monday (11/11/2019).

Kampoeng Kurma promises to build a date palm plantation area with various facilities, ranging from mosques, Islamic boarding schools, horse racing, and other facilities with Islamic nuances.

This investment problem was detected in early January 2019, the company gathered investors and announced that there would be investors from Malaysia who wanted to acquire the Kampoeng Kurma project. The company also promises that investors who want to withdraw their funds will be given full plus 20% of the funds. At that time there were about 50% of the lot buyers who wanted refund, but in fact it is not processed.

“Mid of the year around July, I asked the management of Kampoeng Kurma, to ask about progress. By them my question was not answered. I finally looked for information, it turned out that the promised AJB for my plot could not be implemented, I asked when AJB, answered that it could not because there are no funds,” he said.

Not only that, the company even gives blank checks to buyers who want to make a purchase refund. There was also a plot that turned out to be non-existent, some even turned out to be a graveyard.

“There are plots that have graves, many buyers are thrown around because the land plots don’t exist,” he added.

According to Irvan, a total of 4,000 lots have been sold. Irvan himself bought seven lots with a value of Rp 417 million.

2. Indication of Total Loss of IDR 10 M

The Investment Alert Task Force (SWI) has actually stopped its activities Kampoeng Kurma on April 28, 2019 because it was indicated that it was illegal or fake. SWI chairman Tongam L Tobing explained that currently his party had asked the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to block the site and its application.

There are allegations of losses reaching Rp 100 million / person with a total number of customers who have made complaints as many as 100 people. In other words, there are indications of losses of up to Rp 10 billion.

“It’s still an allegation (of losses). About 100 people with an average of Rp. 100 million/person,” Tongam said when contacted detik.com, Friday (11/15/2019).

Tongam added, business scheme Kampoeng Kurma is to offer investment in palm tree land units with a scheme of 1 land unit covering an area of 400-500m2 planted with five date palms and will generate Rp 175 million per year Furthermore, date palm trees begin to bear fruit at the age of 4-10 years and will continue to bear fruit until the tree is 90-100 years old.

According to Tongam, such a method is irrational because it promises high returns in a short period of time, there is no transparency regarding the use of invested funds, and there is no guarantee that the date palm trees planted will actually grow/not die/not cut down by others.
