– Gets very emotional – VG

After Saturday’s gold, the tears rolled for Bråthen in the interview with licensee Discovery.

– When this goes well, it becomes very emotional for us, says Bråthen.

The jumpers have stood together behind Bråthen during the conflict with the management of the Ski Association, and gold winner Lindvik is aware that the 53-year-old has been important to him.

– Clas Brede has meant a lot. There are few people who are so involved in the sport of jumping and want the sport of jumping as well as Clas Brede.

– What do you think about someone wanting him away?

– I do not understand anything of that, Lindvik says.

National team coach Alexander Stöckl says that experiences like Lindvik’s gold are the reason why they travel around the world.

In the last six months, we have managed to focus on what is important to us. It is to facilitate our athletes so that they can do their best when it counts. What is happening today is a great confirmation that we have managed it, says Stöckl.

– Do you have a greeting to the Ski Association?

– Thanks for the support.

– How disturbing has the conflict with the management been towards the Olympics?

– Fortunately, it has not been so disturbing for the athletes. In the support system, we have managed to focus on what is important, and that is to facilitate the practitioners.

Most recently, when the Norwegian squad was to take off from Gardermoen on 31 January, there was a new media coverage of the conflict. Then it became known that the Norwegian jumpers did not want the head of communications in the Norwegian Ski Association, Espen Graff, to work with them during the Olympics.

The Star Jumper Halvor Egner Granerud went hard against Graff at a press conference a few days later.

– I was extremely disappointed with the way he behaved towards the athletes, Granerud said.

Asked if Lindvik’s gold comes in spite of others or because of others, Bråthen answers:

– It’s because of a fantastic jumping environment, it’s because of fantastic enthusiasts in the sport of jumping. It is because of a bunch of colleagues in Hopp-Norge that I admire them to such an extent. That is the only thing that means something to me, and the only thing I bother to comment on in that context, Bråthen says to VG.
