Get to know the G4 virus, a new type of swine flu that has the potential to be a pandemic

KOMPAS.com – Scientists identify a new type of flu in China that is said to be a potential pandemic.

Launch BBCOn Monday (6/29/2020), the virus appeared and was carried by pigs but could infect humans.

Researchers fear the virus can mutate further so that it can spread easily from person to person and trigger a global outbreak.

Reported AFP, a virus called G4 is genetically derived from strain H1N1 which caused a pandemic in 2009.

The virus is said to grow and develop well in the cells lining the human airways.

Researchers found evidence of the recent infection starting in people working in slaughterhouses (RPH) and the pig industry in China.
