Get ready! These 13 Electricity Classes Will Increase Rates

Jakarta

The government will raise electricity rates non-subsidized this year. The increase in electricity rates will be applied to 13 groups of non-subsidized electricity customers.

Until now, the increase in electricity rates has not been determined. The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Rida Mulyana said it would be determined according to the initial regulations in 2022, taking into account the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to improve.

“Electricity tariffs for this non-subsidized customer class can fluctuate or go up or down every three months, adjusted to at least three factors, namely currency exchange rates, world crude oil prices, and inflation,” Rida said as quoted by Antara, Thursday (2/2) 12/2021) ago.

“When the tariff adjustment increases, of course we have to talk to other sectors. We are only preparing data and several scenarios, the decision is to the leadership,” explained Rida.

Meanwhile, since 2017, the government has withheld the implementation of the electricity tariff adjustment scheme. This was done because people’s purchasing power was still low. The government must also compensate PLN for the Basic Cost of Supply (BPP) of electricity or economic tariffs with tariffs set by the government for non-subsidized customers.

The following are 13 categories of non-subsidized electricity whose tariffs will increase this year:

Household
1. 900 VA household can afford
