Get ready, the phenomenon of the Sky Parade of 5 Parallel Planets Can be Seen Tomorrow with the naked eye

The phenomenon of the sky parade where the five planets are aligned can be seen with the naked eye will occur tomorrow, Friday (24/6/2022).

Andi Pangerang, Researcher at the BRIN Space Research Center, said that the five planets that are aligned tomorrow are Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, Venus and Mercury. In addition, tomorrow’s moon will also be in a position parallel to the five.

“The earliest rising ones are Jupiter, Mars, Moon, Uranus, Venus and Mercury,” Andi told Surabaya Voice RadioThursday (23/6/2022) night.

Andi explained that Saturn rose first today at around 21.00 WIB, followed by Neptune at 23.30 WIB.

“Then Jupiter at 12.00 midnight, Mars at 1 in the morning, the Moon at 1.30 WIB, Uranus at 2.45 WIB, Venus at 3.45 WIB, and Mercury at 4.15,” he explained.

This Sky Parade phenomenon, said Andi, can be seen with the naked eye without using a telescope when the weather is clear.

“If Uranus because of its large enough magnitude then it is quite challenging. If the conditions are very bright we can see Uranus even without using a telescope. If the air pollution is big enough like in Surabaya, then Uranus can only be seen through a telescope,” he explained.

To distinguish the appearance of planets from stars, Andi explained, the difference is in the flickering.

If the planet is relatively close to the earth, it doesn’t twinkle from the earth. However, stars that are very far from the earth, coupled with large atmospheric disturbances, are visible twinkling.

This Sky Parade occurs because of the meeting of the orbital rates of different planets at the same time.

“Each planet has its own orbital speed. As Mercury orbits the Sun for only 88 days, the longest is Neptune orbiting the Sun for 164 years. So, because of the different orbital speeds, there are times when the planet will be in a position that, when observed from Earth, seems to be parallel,” he explained.

As parallel, Andi explained because in fact when observed above the solar system, it is not actually parallel.

“There are those in the east or west but visible to the earth as if a straight line,” he explained.

The five parallel planets tomorrow, said Andi, can be seen from the earth because they are located in adjacent constellations, so it can be called the Sky Parade.

“For example, Venus and Mercury are located in the constellation Taurus, Uranus and the Moon in Aries, Mars Jupiter and Neptune in the constellation Pisces,” he concluded.(dfn/ipg)
