Get ready! Indonesia The arrival of cheap electric motorcycles next year

Since last year, the market electric motor in Indonesia it continues to grow. In fact, from time to time, the fans are more and more. However, one problem is that most electric motors are even more expensive than conventional motors of the same class.

This niche is likely to be used by PT Terang Dunia Internusa (TDI) as a new “checkout area”. This is because PT TDI, which is the manufacturer of the United electric motorcycle in Indonesia, has confirmed that it will launch low-cost electrification products next year.

According to reports, United’s cheap electric motorcycle will be priced below Rp. 15 million. However, the pricing details are not yet clearly revealed.

PT TDI CEO Andry Dwinanda confirmed that the budget electric motorcycle priced below Rp. 15 million will be introduced in 2023. However, he doesn’t want to talk about the exact date, including how the specifications will be in the vehicle.

“We are planning next year (the launch of an electric motorcycle under Rp 15 million). There has to be,” Andry said when he was recently met by detikOto in Senayan, South Jakarta.

According to Andry, currently his party already has electric motors from various segments. In the future, he and his team at PT TDI will be more aggressive in launching affordable products.

“So we will try to see how to fill the segments, now we have the premium and medium segments. Next we will fill in the cheaper classes,” he said.

Additionally, Andry said, United’s electric motorcycles sold in Indonesia are manufactured locally. However, there are some components that are still being imported from overseas, particularly from China.

In addition to having manufacturing facilities, they also have six authorized dealers in Indonesia. Andry hopes the number will double to 15 retailers next year.
