At the same time, you don’t have to worry about incorporating both devices into the furniture. Their appearance does not attract unnecessary attention.

TP-Link has decided to completely change the design of something that most people have tucked away in the corner of the room with a pair of novelties. The Internet router presented by the Archer Air series looks like a small inconspicuous cake with a white matte finish. Its dimensions and especially its thickness of 10.8 mm resemble a tablet.

Archer Air R5 you simply connect it to the power supply via the USB-C connector and to your modem via one of the two Ethernet ports. They are also minimalistic on the underside and can be easily folded out. The rest of the settings are made via the web interface or the Tether application, which is available for free for Android and iOS in Czech. The setup is very simple and the router informs about the status in addition to the application thanks to the diode on the front.

You can then easily place the router practically anywhere to have ideal signal coverage. On the back, you will find pre-installed adhesive tapes, so the router can be easily attached to the wall. Or you can use a plastic wall holder.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Archer Air R5 has a wide range of technologies and can provide high connection speeds. The basis is modern Wi-Fi 6 in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. The maximum speeds reach 574 Mb/s on the 2.4GHz band and 2402 Mb/s on the 5GHz band. Proper signal distribution is ensured by smartly placed antennas directly in the device and a number of algorithms detecting, for example, the location of your devices.

Low latency ensures that you can even play the latest online games or connect to a work video call over Wi-Fi without the slightest hesitation. You can also easily set up a VPN server enabling, for example, secure access to the local network from the outside.

There is no shortage of purely security features including HomeShield, which includes parental controls, scanning the home network to detect threats and checking the quality of the connection.

If you have a larger apartment or family house, you will certainly appreciate the compatibility with EasyMesh. The EasyMesh standard makes it possible to create a stable Wi-Fi network with a single name using several routers or a router and an extender. It can easily cover several rooms, but also entire floors. Just plug in one main router, in this case the Archer Air R5, and the satellite device. For example, the Archer Air E5, which is, at least in terms of design, a copy of the R5 router. In this case, it is an extender with EasyMesh support.

Archer Air E5 you connect it with one USB-C power cable to a place where you already have a slightly worse signal or speeds. The extender amplifies this signal and, thanks to EasyMesh, does not create another particularly visible network. Thus, you will not be bothered by switching between individual Wi-Fi networks when moving from the extender to the main router. Again, you can enjoy speeds of up to 2402 Mb/s on the 5GHz band or 3 Gb/s in a combination of both bands.
