Germany Vs England Finish 1-1

Munich

Duel between Germany vs England ended without a winner after a 1-1 draw. Harry Kane’s penalty saves the Three Lions from defeat.

Germany hosted England in Group 3A of the UEFA Nations League at the Allianz Arena, Munich, Wednesday (8/6/2022) WIB. Both teams played to a goalless draw throughout the first half.

The team opened the scoring first thanks to Jonas Hofmann’s goal after the break. England could only score the equalizer in the last five minutes.

Kyle Walker made a crucial clearance in the early minutes so Thomas Mueller was unable to make a flick from a corner. Furthermore, Harry Kane’s shot from the right side of the penalty box was easily anticipated by Manuel Neuer.

Jonas Hofmann took advantage of Kai Havertz’s pass before breaking into England’s goal in the 23rd minute. However, the goal was disallowed because the linesman raised the offside flag. The referee then conducted a review with VAR but did not change the decision. The score is still 0-0.

Kieran Trippier made a vital block to deny Havertz a header from close range. Just before halftime, Jamal Musiala’s shot from the edge of the box was saved by Jordan Pickford. England then responded with Bukayo Saka’s hard shot even though it was still wide.

After the restart, Germany was still in control of the ball while putting pressure on the English defense area. The deadlock was finally broken in the 50th minute after Hofmann opened the scoring.

On the right wing, Havertz’s collaboration with Joshua Kimmich ended with a through ball into the penalty box. Hofmann escaped from the control of the English back line and then finished with a right foot kick. Germany lead 1-0.

Two minutes later, Jude Bellingham sent a through ball to Mason Mount. However, Mount’s shot was parried by Neuer. Raheem Sterling wasted a good chance after his flick deviated from the far post.

Mueller threatened again. In the 70th minute, crossing David Raum was met by Mueller with a shot from a tight angle. Pickford made a fine save at the near post.

Seven minutes later, England’s chances were thwarted by Neuer. Jack Grealish’s cross from the left flank was headed home by Harry Kane from an empty position, but Neuer plopped down to clear the ball.

Penalty for England after Schlotterbeck brought down Harry Kane. The number 9 player stepped forward as the executor and sent Neuer falling in the wrong direction. England evened the score to 1-1 in the 88th minute.
