The nursing commission consists of representatives from non-profit, private and church nursing facilities. Employers and employees are also represented equally on the commission. The commission recommends the minimum wage and the minimum vacation for nursing staff.

The Federal Ministry of Labor now wants to implement this recommendation. “This is good for the carers and good for the care industry,” said Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) about the Nursing Commission’s proposal. Decent wages would also help combat the shortage of skilled workers.
