In the last 24 hours, 2,034 new infections with Covid-19 have been reported in Germany, bringing the total number of infections to 232,082, according to the Robert Koha Institute (RKI).
The last time a higher number of new infections was recorded was on April 25, when 2,055 cases of infection were detected.
A large number of small outbreaks of infection have been found across the country, many of them related to family holidays, the RKI said on Friday.
A high number of infections, especially in younger age groups, is also associated with tourism trips abroad.
The Covid-19 pandemic reached its peak in Germany in early April, with more than 6,000 new infections registered every day.
Thereafter, the number of new infections began to decline sharply, and this trend was observed until the end of July. Recently, however, the situation has changed in the opposite direction again, raising concerns about the so-called second wave of the pandemic.
At the same time, some experts point out that the increase in reported infections coincided with an increase in the number of people tested for Covid-19.
Seven Covid-19 deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus victims in Germany to 9,267, the RKI reports.
At the same time, the institute estimates that approximately 206,000 people with Covid-19 have recovered.
