Many believe that the upcoming warmer season will bring back the corona virus. But not the chief virologist of the Charité Hospital in Berlin, Christian Drosten (48).
–
“We have to expect that we will run straight into an epidemic wave,” he said in a press conference by the Federal Ministry of Health. Because: The seasonal effect on these viruses is not as great as with related viruses. The spreading speed is only slightly dampened by the heat.

«It will be critical in autumn»
In an interview with the “New Osnabrück newspaper” Drosten said: “It will be critical in autumn.” Then there will be countless undetected cases because the danger in summer is out of sight, he says.
–
The risk of infection would increase dramatically. “Then I expect a sudden increase in the number of corona cases with dire consequences and many deaths.”
–
Not enough intensive care beds
Drosten therefore thinks it is right to cancel major events. He also demands that the intensive care beds be immediately upgraded. There are 28,000 of them in Germany, but over 80 percent of them are occupied and a sufficient number cannot be released.

It is no longer appropriate to play down the situation – even if Germany is well prepared. “We are facing an unprecedented threat situation and cannot foresee what that means.” (bra)
