German U-17 national team coach Christian Wuck praised the quality of the city where the Panzer team played their matches to become champions U-17 World Cup 2023.
Germany won the U-17 World Cup for the first time. In the final match against France at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Saturday (2/12), Germany won on penalties after a 2-2 draw throughout normal time.
Apart from winning the U-17 World Cup for the first time, the German U-17 national team also became the first team in history to combine the U-17 World Cup title with the U-17 Euros in the same year.
Wuck admitted that he was impressed with Indonesia as host of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. The 50-year-old coach expressed his gratitude for the welcome given by the Indonesian people to the German U-17 national team.
“I want to say thank you very much to Indonesia and to everyone I met here,” said Wuck, quoted from the official website FIFA.
Wuck further said that the Germany U-17 squad never had any complaints during the 2023 U-17 World Cup matches in Indonesia. Wuck said the three cities where Germany played: Bandung, Jakarta and Solo had top class.
“We experienced top class conditions in the three cities where we played: Bandung, Jakarta and Solo. Wherever we went, we were only greeted with smiling faces. The kindness of the people was extraordinary. It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience,” said Wow.
Wuck, who has experience in youth football since 2012, admitted that he was lucky to be able to set foot in Indonesia.
“I am very grateful to have gotten to know this country. I am very grateful for meeting people. I have never waved as much on the bus as when we went to training or to a match in Indonesia,” said Wuck.
