This weekend the German Football Federation (DFB) assured that it did not maintain “any contact” with Jürgen Klopp to offer him the position of that nation’s national team.
“He wants to take a break and that’s why the issue doesn’t even arise,” DFB director general Andreas Rettig told Focus magazine.
Klopp, 56, announced in January that at the end of the current season he will leave English club Liverpool, where he has been since 2015.
Current Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann’s contract ends after this year’s European Championship, which Germany hosts in June and July. The German team has only won three of its eleven games in 2023 and only one of four since Nagelsmann came to the team’s bench in September.
