The opening film was completely sold out. Many guests romp in the catering tents who do not watch a film. Some fans mourn the family atmosphere from the early days of the festival when only five to 10,000 visitors came to the park island.
There were complaints earlier
But earlier, residents also complained about wildly parked cars and noisy festival goers on the park island until late at night. Ludwigshafen’s Mayor Jutta Steinruck has personally taken care of the matter and wants to ensure that waste is disposed of quickly and that traffic is well managed.

City officials and festival directors agree that the film festival should not continue to grow. The capacities on the park island are exhausted. A change of location is out of the question. The special attraction: the contact between audience and actors in a unique atmosphere.
