German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius Issues Warning about Russia’s Future Intentions

Boris Pistorius says the murder of Alexei Navalny confirms his worst fears about Russia.

The head of the German Defense Ministry, Boris Pistorius, predicted decades of confrontation with Russia and “dividing lines” in Europe.

Relevant statement he made during a speech at the Munich Security Conference.

The murder of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny has confirmed his worst fears about Russia, according to the head of the German defense ministry. The West needs to prepare for a multi-year confrontation with the Russian Federation, since the Kremlin wants to dominate Eastern and Central Europe.

The minister believes that in the coming decades we will have to live with the “dividing lines” that will run between democratic Europe and authoritarian Russia.

“Effective deterrence is our life insurance”– added Pistorius.

In his opinion, the West needs to look for new partners in other parts of the world, even if they do not meet all Western standards. The minister cited Africa as an example of where such partners could be found. He announced Berlin’s readiness to send more military advisers to African countries.

If new cooperation is not sought on other continents, the Kremlin will expand its influence in the world, the head of the defense department warned.

Let us recall that not so long ago NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about the need to prepare for a long confrontation with Russia. According to the official, the confrontation with the Russian Federation could last for decades. He warned of the risk of Russian aggression spreading to other countries if Ukraine were defeated and called for increased support for Kyiv.
