Last season, they were fourth in the last game day – and left at the bitter end with empty hands and hanging heads. Even a win might not be enough for third place. Heidenheim is one point ahead. If the club wins with second division champions Bielefeld, HSV can play as they want.
Heidenheim don’t feel a pressure situation before the unequal remote duel with HSV. The climb is not a must, a setback is not the end of all dreams. “If it does not work now, we will definitely not say next season that we absolutely have to go there again,” said CEO Holger Sanwald. “There is no first league goal in Heidenheim, we are not set up for that.”
