Two weeks ago Gerard Pique was still on fire, now it sounds much more sober. Regarding Lionel Messi’s planned return, his former team-mate wouldn’t force anything.
The words chosen by Rafa Yuste took the Lionel Messi case to a new level. The vice-president of FC Barcelona spoke out clearly for the return of the superstar, confirmed ongoing contact and was extremely enthusiastic.
“I know Rafa and I know what he’s like. He’s a very good person and will always tell you what you want to hear,” says Gerard Pique in an interview with Barça blogger Gerard Romero, initially expressing the emotionality of the statements made. “He’s a person who chooses the right words to say what you want.”

“I’ve gotten to a point where I think it’s counterproductive to force situations so much,” Pique says that the reunion shouldn’t be made by hook or by crook. “I would let it happen on its own and let it be natural. If it comes to that in the end, it will happen that way. If both sides have the intention, it can happen. Just let the time pass.”
Hopes are high in Barcelona that the prodigal son will return this summer. Messi extending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain is now considered the most unlikely scenario.
