GeoN Co., Ltd. announced on the 23rd that it has independently developed an antiviral filter that can respond to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
In addition, the antiviral filter’s virus blocking performance was verified last month through an experiment conducted by the Department of Biology at Sogang University.
The virus used in this experiment is a lentivirus, a highly toxic virus, also known as an acquired human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
The experiment was conducted over a total of 7 rounds. After making 1 mL of the maximum concentrated virus solution into an aerosol state using a mist sprayer, the virus in the collected solution is passed through the antiviral filter at a rate more than 50% faster than when a person inhales through a mask. An experiment was conducted to measure the degree of infecting cells.
An official from Geoen said, “In the case of the control experiment without an antiviral filter, a large amount of lentivirus was found, but after passing the filter, the virus was hardly detected, and similar experimental results were obtained in all 7 experiments. The performance was found to be 98.6%,” he said. “The reliability of this experiment is over 99.9%.”
In addition, according to the result of requesting the filter analysis to the Korea Testing and Research Institute (KATR), GIOEN’s antiviral filter not only blocks viruses, but also kills pneumonia and food poisoning bacteria with an efficiency of 99.9% or more.
Accordingly, an official from Geoen Co., Ltd. said, “It can block the transmission of pathogens by air to other people with virus-infected patients or pneumonia patients. It does not contain any nanoparticles or allergens.”
