genius | Interruptions and injuries from the beginning of the film; Many said not to mention ‘jinn’: Siddharth Bharathan

Djinn is a film directed by Siddharth Bharathan starring Soubin Shahir. Director Siddharth and screenwriter Rajesh Gopinathan weave a hilarious chain of events that created that name. They told these interesting stories in an interview for the promotion of the film. This is yet another in the list of various superstitions in Malayalam cinema.

Many people forbid the use of names of extraterrestrial forces in movies. It is believed that the same forces will interfere in the film in various ways and create obstacles. There will be what is commonly known as the Junior Mandrake Effect.

Even before filming started, some people were making up stories related to it. It was very popular. The film went through various crises to make those stories believable. Covid is the first obstacle. And a few more hitches in production. Story propagandists will soon appear like you haven’t seen it, didn’t we say that then? Either way, it took three years to complete the film. Jinn, which started filming one Christmas day, will be released another Christmas in three years.

Director Siddharth Bharathan says that many people would have interpreted the little hiccups and minor injuries to people as Jinn’s intervention at the filming location. Many advised against going ahead with the name as soon as it was decided. Some have come up with a list of various tragic events that occurred in previous films with such names. It has been stated that the only solution is to change the name to prevent such things from happening. There are people who go to astrologers to find solutions. Siddharth said that the decision was to release the film under this name irrespective of the crisis. Even the producers have been at our side.

But things were not in anyone’s hands. The plague that was thought to have disappeared, Kovid struck in second and third waves. The film remained unfinished. Despite the film’s completion, there were no crises. The release was scheduled multiple times, but all changed for various reasons. Even when Siddharth Bharathan’s film Chaturam started shooting after Jinn, Jinn did not see the light of day. The actors were also worried that a good film that was shot after a lot of work was not released. Jinn is Girish Gangadharan’s best photographic work. Extraordinary performance by Soub. Siddharth said that everyone is in trouble because of these things.

Jinn believers first reacted when a minor accident happened to someone who was carrying a hard drive from the film. The same day he bought the hard drive, the film’s writer fell on the shuttle field and was injured. With that many people started to get scared.

Finally, after the film was decided to release on 30th December, Siddharth suffered a minor injury. As he was trying to get into the car, when he opened the door, he came and hit him on the forehead, injuring him. Siddharth still has a scar on his forehead which hasn’t healed. He thinks the accident happened due to his carelessness. But Siddharth Bharatan said the Jinn believers don’t think so. Many began to advise him to be careful.

The film’s tail was shot in Chennai. Subsequently, screenwriter Rajesh Gopinathan was preparing to go home. Meanwhile, someone gave him a shirt with Jinn written on it. At the airport, another passenger asked if he wanted to get on the plane in this shirt. Rajesh laughed at the look on his face every time the plane hit the turbulence in the air. He brought that shirt and still keeps it at home. Rajesh said nothing happened.

Some believe that jinn are both good and evil. They also think that we can only see it when it enters another body. It can be seen as animal or human. Such scenes appear in the film in a surreal way. It’s natural to have crises in cinema. If you connect it with superstition, there will be time for it. I am happy that the film has overcome all obstacles and is making its way to theaters. Rajesh Gopinathan said that all these incidents related to the name of the film are seen as an interesting experience.
