“Generative Artificial Intelligence Platforms and Their Impact on Various Professions”

The creators of generative artificial intelligence (AI) platforms are developing them faster and faster, and recently they are being used more and more widely in various fields. This technology is about to drastically change our lives, experts and analysts agree, but their opinions regarding the expected impact of AI differ drastically, BTA reports.

Two new studies show that generative artificial intelligence platforms, including the ChatGPT chatbot, will have a significant impact on the professional development of many of us.

Accountants, programmers, translators, journalists…

Experts from the technology company “Open AI” (OpenAI), which develops “ChatGPT” and scientists from the University of Pennsylvania, have analyzed which professions and jobs are about to be most seriously affected by the development of artificial intelligence.

The authors of the study found that this technology can “interfere” most seriously in the work of accountants. At least half of accounting tasks could be done much faster by artificial intelligence, researchers have found.

Mathematicians, programmers, translators, writers and journalists should also be prepared for the fact that artificial intelligence may begin to perform at least part of their professional duties.

Although currently artificial intelligence systems still “crazy” false facts in their answers, they already achieve remarkable results when given tasks related to text translation, data classification, creative writing and program code generation.

Researchers at Open AI and Penn State University suggest that most jobs will be changed in some way by the ability of artificial intelligence to work with and develop language patterns.

The job duties of about 80 percent of those employed in the U.S. labor market include at least one task that could be completed more quickly with the help of generative AI, the study authors noted.

However, there are also professions where artificial intelligence is expected to play only a minor role. Among them are cooks, auto mechanics and those employed in the field of oil and natural gas extraction, as well as in the agriculture and forestry sector.
