Generated powerful explosions… a huge fire at a gas storage station in Morocco

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has denied the existence of a “Jordanian mediation” to settle differences with Morocco, stressing that there is no mediation from another country.

Tebboune’s statement comes after Spanish reports of Jordanian mediation to resolve the dispute between Morocco and Algeria over the retransport of gas via the Maghreb gas pipeline via Morocco.

newspaper said,LabangoradiaThe political crisis between Spain and Algeria is now about to be resolved thanks to the mediation of King Abdullah II of Jordan.

The newspaper indicated that the king has initiated a preliminary agreement in Algeria to reopen the Europe-Maghreb (GME) gas pipeline, which has been closed since October 31, as soon as possible.

Tebboune said the Jordanian king did not mention any countries and did not refer to any “mediation”, describing reports that mentioned it as mere “interpretation”.

Tebboune said things have moved beyond the “mediation stage,” as he put it.

Tebboune stressed that it is too early to talk about his second term at the helm of Algeria, saying that at the moment he is not thinking about the issue and that “everything will come in its time”.

Regarding Franco-Algerian relations, Tebboune said he would not give up the memory dossier with the French side, but was open to dealing with these dossiers, and accused the “parties” of exploiting misunderstandings with France to disturb relations, adding that his relations with French President Emmanuel Macron are “good” and good” and that the latter has been “liberated”, as he described it, from the “French superiority complex”.

There has been a decades-long dispute over the fate of the desert region between Morocco and the Polisario Front, backed by neighboring Algeria.

The crisis reached its climax between the two neighboring countries, with the rupture of diplomatic relations between them in August 2021, by decision taken by Algeria.

As a result, Algeria has cut gas from Morocco, as it shut down the Europe-Maghreb pipeline that carries Algerian gas to Spain via Morocco in October.
