The top officer came to the war of his own free will. It is known that Major General Dmitry Ulyanov commanded “mobiles” from Tatarstan.

In Ukraine, from February 4 to 5, Russian General Dmitry Ulyanov was destroyed by the Defense Forces. How informed co-founder of the international volunteer community InformNapalm, OSINT expert Irakli Komakhidze, another liquidated Russian officer, commanded a regiment of mobilized invaders from Tatarstan.

Komakhidze writes that according to open sources, Ulyanov previously served as Chief of Staff of the 7th Airborne Division, commander of the 1141st Artillery Regiment, and also from 2015 to 2017 was commander of the 98th Airborne Division.

In which combat zone Ulyanov died is not specified, but it is known that the general arrived in Ukraine as a volunteer.


Po information officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Shtefan, from the beginning of the large-scale aggression of the Russian Federation to February 2023, 1740 high-ranking Russian military personnel were liquidated in Ukraine. Of them:

  • generals – 10;
  • colonels – 52;
  • lieutenant colonels – 119;
  • majors – 232;
  • captains – 334;
  • senior lieutenants – 553;
  • lieutenants – 292;
  • ranks not identified – 148.

Recall, according to the data of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated January 24, 122,170 Russian invaders were eliminated during the 11 months of the war. The enemy also lost 3152 tanks, 289 aircraft and 2148 artillery systems.

Adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak said on February 3 that Ukraine is paying a very high price for keeping Bakhmut, but the defenders cannot leave him. According to the adviser, Bakhmut is not just a settlement in the Donetsk region, but a native home for Ukrainians.
