Gaza Strip Ceasefire: Turkey Urges US to Withdraw Support for Israel in Bloody Conflict

Gaza Strip still waiting for a ceasefire. Attack Israel still a threat. Türkiye called United States of America acted to withdraw support for its ally Zionist state.

Türkiye’s appeal was conveyed by the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the President Joe Biden. The US needs to act because the US has ‘historical responsibility’ for the bloody conflict in the Middle East.

Israel argued that the attack on the Gaza Strip was in retaliation for the Hamas attack which Israel said had killed 1,200 of its citizens. Now that Israel has attacked, the Gaza (Hamas) authorities say that 18,787 people have been killed in the Palestinian area which borders the Mediterranean Sea.

As reported by AFP and Al Arabiya, Friday (15/12/2023), Erdogan conveyed this call and warning to Biden when the two spoke by telephone on Thursday (14/12) local time. This telephone conversation was the first between the two heads of state since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.

“President Erdogan stated that the intensification and extension of Israel’s attacks could have negative regional and global consequences,” the Turkish presidential office said in a statement released after the telephone conversation.

“The United States’ unconditional withdrawal of support for Israel can guarantee a quick ceasefire,” Erdogan said in his statement.

In the telephone conversation, Erdogan called on Biden to ensure an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“The United States has a historical responsibility to ensure a permanent ceasefire in the region as soon as possible,” Erdogan told Biden in the telephone conversation.

Meanwhile, the White House in its statement said: “Biden reiterated his support for Israel’s right to defend itself. “Biden reiterated his support for Israel’s right to defend itself.”

“The leaders also discussed efforts to increase humanitarian assistance to Gaza and protect civilians, as well as the political horizon for the Palestinian people,” the White House said in a statement.
