Gatineau inaugurates its first outdoor multifunctional aquatic pool

There were no swimmers on site, but that’s good because of the rainy day, said Masson-Angers district councilor Mario Aubé.

It is by far the busiest of all our pools currently in the City of Gatineau.he said. It’s quite an investment, and it’s been in business since day one.

It took a total investment of $2.6 million from the municipal, provincial and federal governments for this new pool to see the light of day after the closure of the Jack-Eyamie public outdoor pool in 2018.

It’s big, it’s modern, it’s really cutting edgeunderlined the Minister responsible for the Outaouais region and MNA for Papineau, Mathieu Lacombe. In the east of Gatineau, I think it is important. There are sectors where there is a lot of development, but also in the east I think we have to ensure that our citizens have access to the best infrastructures.

The vice-president of the Recreation, Sports and Community Development Commission and councilor for the district of Buckingham, Edmond Leclerc, said he was proud of this new pool.

It makes me extremely proud, especially since it is a pool that is multigenerational, multifunctional and accessible.he continued.

This infrastructure makes it possible to meet multigenerational needs thanks to its three swimming areas.

It includes a recreational pool 1.2 meters deep with a beach-style entrance, a lap pool 1.2 meters deep and 20 meters long, and a whirlpool. Water games are also part of the site.

A shaded relaxation area, street furniture and a terrace have been set up around the pool, a first for the City of Gatineau. Streetlights have also been installed on the site, which makes it possible to extend opening hours during heat waves.
