The gathering of the national alpine skiing teams, at the Stelvio, begins with an unexpected event: none of the athletes had been subjected to a preventive buffer, and now there are two positives, including the coach.
In fact, a technician from the Italian national ski team, who is preparing on the Stelvio glacier, tested positive for the coronavirus. Workouts suspended on Sunday to allow tests to be carried out on the people who make up the team. Confirmation comes from the Italian winter sports federation which specifies what happened.
“Thanks to the strict application of the health protocols drawn up for the management of the Stelvio ski rally – said Fisi in a note – it was possible to identify that a technician, just climbed on the glacier, showed weak flu symptoms. He was therefore immediately taken to the Sondalo hospital where it tested positive for the serological test and, consequently, for the ATS protocol of Sondrio, subjected to a swab. For the same protocol the same ATS has swab all those who are in these days at the Livrio hotel. Today the ATS of Bolzano has also been activated, being the Livrio in South Tyrol, which will carry out a new buffer “.
“The overall situation – adds the federation – is constantly monitored by the FISI Medical Commission, in continuous contact with ATS, which will immediately isolate any positive cases. The technician is now well and the tests have not shown any further symptoms of any kind” .
Among the 160 people present in these days at the Hotel Livrio are included the blue champions Goggia and Brignone present with the World Cup team. For today the training activity is suspended just to carry out the exam for everyone, from tomorrow the program should resume normally.
