Gas stations in China ran out of fuel

Gas stations in many parts of China have begun to limit diesel sales amid rising costs and declining supplies. Heavy truck drivers have to wait days to refuel, according to Weibo posts.

The country is currently in the midst of an energy crisis – a shortage of coal and natural gas has closed factories and left households without electricity, writes the BBC.

“The shortage of diesel most seriously affects the transport business and supplies to markets outside China,” said Matt Becking, director of the Economist Intelligence Unit.

Truck drivers in China have the right to refuel only 100 liters of fuel a day – about 10% of their capacity, according to a heavy truck dealer in Hebei Province.

In other parts of the country, the limit is even higher, with drivers allowed to load only up to 25 liters.

In some cities, gas stations charge drivers an additional $ 47 to fill their tanks.

Overall, oil prices have reached their highest levels since 2014 in recent weeks.

Coal and natural gas shortages are becoming more serious in countries such as China and India. According to analysts, in some places will switch to oil for electricity generation and heating.

Such demand could increase total crude oil consumption by more than half a million barrels per day.
