Garrett delighted in the Mariendom concert online

LINZ. The backdrop in front of the Linz Mariendom has been the setting for the concerts of Klassik am Dom for years. In 2021, the concerts had to be canceled again due to corona and postponed to 2022. But there was a worthy compensation: Star violinist David Garrett traveled, as reported, for an exclusive concert on July 24th in Linz. This time he did not appear, but in the Mariendom. The concert was broadcast live on ORF2 with a time delay and can be seen in the TVthek for another week.

The largest church in Austria opened its doors to offer the “pop star among violinists” a worthy stage. Thanks to an atmospheric live broadcast, the concert also became a program highlight for the television audience.

Garrett took the audience on a journey between serious and popular music and offered musical highlights from the past ten years. From Bach’s “Air” to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony to world-famous hits like “Purple Rain” or “Nothing Else Matters”. Between the pieces Garrett tells of personal moments and guides the audience through his musical world.

In addition to the star violinist, director Felix Breisach also focused on insights into the landscape of Upper Austria – from St. Florian Monastery to the rich lake landscape to Bad Ischl. The view wanders from the impressive backdrop of the Mariendom through the historical painting windows into the idyllic landscape shots.

Check it out for a week

For one week, until July 31, fans and classical music enthusiasts have the opportunity to watch the concert in the ORF-TVthek – the link is available worldwide and at any time.
