Garage Trudel Inc., destroyed by a serious fire, will reopen its doors on Monday, thanks to the solidarity of the community of Saint-Narcisse in Mauricie, the new owners announced Thursday morning.
Last July, Yvan Trudel’s garage was completely devastated by flames, leaving him no equipment.
A week after the event, the latter contacted Annie Domaine, owner of the building in which the garage has been relocated.
“At the monetary level, I did not think of that. It had to be done, ”said the new co-owner.
In four weeks, the new owners, Annie Domaine and Éric Duguay were able to make Garage Trudel Inc. operational again, but not without the unconditional support of the community.
“The citizens wanted to contribute financially, to create a fund to help restart the garage, or even a pre-purchase campaign. People say “we will already buy services that we will consume anyway for the next year”, assured the mayor of Saint-Narcisse, Guy Veillette.
He has been a customer of the garage himself since purchasing his first vehicle, and praises the excellent customer service from the employees.
The host city of the Solidarity Festival for 30 years, said the mayor.
The fire upset his plans for Yvan Trudel who thought to retire and bequeath his business, before the tragic event. However, it was unimaginable for him to leave the citizens without a mechanical repair service, when his garage was the only one in Saint-Narcisse.
“It was starting to be the fourth generation to come to us. I had known their grandfathers and it’s extraordinary to experience that with their children, ”exclaimed Mr. Trudel.
Even more, owners and employees alike have forged friendships with customers over the years. It was imperative that a new garage be functional for the community.
Already, the garage is a victim of its success since the next two months are practically full. Eric Duguay even said that some customers are already making an appointment for their winter tire change.
