Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo met KH Abdullah Ubab Maimoen at the Al Anwar Islamic Boarding School, Sarang, Rembang as a continuation of his safari in Central Java, Thursday (4/1).

Abdullah Ubab Maimoen is the main caretaker of the Al Anwar Islamic boarding school and the eldest son of the charismatic Central Java cleric, KH Maimoen Zubair. Ganjar on that occasion asked for prayers so that the 2024 General Election and Presidential Election would run smoothly.

“I ask for prayers, ask for support, first of all, I hope the election process goes well, hopefully smoothly,” said Ganjar.

To Gus Ubab, his nickname, the former Governor of Central Java said that the results of the 2024 presidential election were destined by God. Currently, said Ganjar, he can only try.

“And Indonesia is given the best. And Allah has written there that we will find the best. We just pray, because what? The world is not good either,” said Ganjar.

On that occasion, Ganjar also reminisced about his several visits to the Al Anwar Islamic Boarding School. He remembered Mbah Maimoen’s message during his previous visit.

“Mbah Moen also conveyed advice, including don’t forget the little people, that has always remained in my heart, so then we prepare activities that will later be able to help them and that is what is important,” said Ganjar.

Ganjar does have a special closeness to the Al Anwar Islamic Boarding School. In his second period as governor of Central Java, Ganjar paired with Taj Yasin, another son of Mbah Moen.

Meanwhile, until his death, Mbah Moen served as Chairman of the PPP Syuro Council, one of the four parties currently supporting Ganjar-Mahfud in the 2024 presidential election.

During his visit to Al Anwar, Ganjar also raised a three-finger greeting with Gus Ubab. The three-finger greeting refers to the serial numbers between Ganjar and Mahfud.
