Gang of poachers is said to have killed 100 animals

At least 26 deer, herons and little egrets, beavers, foxes, buzzards, goosanders, brown hares and pheasants are said to have been killed by an Upper Austrian gang of poachers. And the list goes on and on. Investigations are ongoing.

Three of the men were registered hunters. The seven are said to have poached since 2019 in different compositions in the districts of Gmunden, Linz-Land, Grieskirchen, Salzburg-Umgebung and Zwettl in Lower Austria. Closed seasons or other provisions to protect the animals were ignored. The suspects often shot from moving cars. Night vision devices, thermal imaging cameras and silencers were used.

Already in April of this year there was evidence of the gang from the population, since then the Bad Ischl inspection has been investigating. The focus was on three men aged 19, 26 and 27, all from the Gmunden district.
