Galicia exceeds 40 municipalities on maximum alert for covid-19

The number of Galician municipalities at the maximum alert level, 3, due to the incidence of coronavirus in the last week has increased this Thursday to 41, two more than the previous day.

Specifically, the Coruñés municipality of Culleredo rises to this red level and the Orenseans of Xinzo de Limia and Viana do Bolo also rise to this red level, while in the case of Pontevedra Salceda de Caselas is situated, compared to Wednesday’s day, in level two.

According to the ‘traffic light’ map updated daily by the Ministry of Health, the cities of A Coruña, Ferrol, Santiago, Pontevedra, Vigo, Orense and Lugo repeat in level 3 due to the pandemic; as well as the municipalities of Ames, Arteixo, Cambre, Carballo, Fene, Muros, Narón, Oleiros, Pontedeume and Teo, in the province of La Coruña.

In Lugo, Monforte does, while in Ourense those of Barbadás, O Carballiño, Ribadavia and Verín remain. In the case of Pontevedra, the municipalities of Cangas, La Estrada, Gondomar, Lalín, Marín, O Porriño, Poio, Ponteareas, Redondela, Ribadumia, Salvaterra de Miño, Silleda, Soutomaior, Tui and Vilagarcía de Arousa are still on red alert.

The entry into the maximum risk level of all these localities implies that they detected more than 21 cases of coronavirus in the last seven days.

Meanwhile, in situation two –in the orange color of the map– there are 26 municipalities, three more than on Tuesday, with 14 municipalities in the province of La Coruña: Ares, Arzúa, Boiro, Boqueixón, Brión, Cerceda, Laracha, Neda, Ordes, Ponteceso, Sada, Santa Comba, Valdoviño and Oza de Cesuras; three in Lugo: Cospeito, Fonsagrada and Vivero and two in Orense: Allariz and Monterrei.

In the case of Pontevedra, there are seven that appear in this alert level: Cambados, La Cañiza, Cuntis, Mos, Nigrán, Salceda de Caselas –which goes from level three to this second– and Cercedo-Cotobade.

In orange, municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants are included with between 138 and 332 new cases of covid-19 per week per 100,000 inhabitants and in those with a smaller population that present between 14 and 20 cases.
