G20 countries talk about tackling the corona pandemic | Abroad

The consultation comes at a time when wealthy countries are considering giving a third corona shot to the vulnerable and a small number of countries have even started to do so. Many people in these countries have been fully vaccinated, while elsewhere in the world not all risk groups have been able to receive a vaccine.

The World Health Organization (WHO) wants countries to stop taking third shots until the end of September, so that 10 percent of the population can be vaccinated in all countries. That said CEO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus last month. According to him, the course of the pandemic depends on the G20 countries, which produce, use and donate most of the corona vaccines. He wants the leaders to come up with commitments.

The Group of 20 consists of the nineteen countries with the largest national economies plus the European Union. The countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, South Africa and South Korea.
