Future Days: events on digitization

LINZ / UPPER AUSTRIA. For the Chamber of Labor (AK) Upper Austria, summer is all about digitization. Together with the Ars Electronica Center (AEC) in Linz, a total of 14 different events on digital processes are offered. Contents are, for example, online trading, remote-controlled household and changing care.

According to the AK OÖ Working Climate Index, 36 percent of the employees surveyed are of the opinion that their workplace has changed very significantly in the past five years. Roughly one in five thinks that their work will be done by a computer or machine in ten years. “You can see very clearly: people are insecure, they are afraid of losing their jobs. It is up to all of us to take away this uncertainty, this fear of digitization. For us, as employee representatives, it is very important that people are not overwhelmed by this rapid development. We have therefore decided to devote summer 2021 entirely to the topic of digitization, ”says AK Upper Austria President Johann Kalliauer.

Events from mid-June to September

Together with the Ars Electronica Center, the AK has set itself the goal of making the living and working world of the future tangible. In addition, 14 different events are offered from mid-June to September. The program includes “Online trade – danger to jobs and companies”, “Care in transition – digitization demands employees” and “Smart home – the remote-controlled household and its dangers”. There is also a multi-day holiday program for children, an outdoor poetry slam and improvisational theater. The detailed program can be found on the Website of the AK. The events take place both face-to-face and virtually, and participation is free.

The Ars Electronica Center is currently showing as reported the exhibition “Work in and on the future”, which also revolves around digital processes and which can be visited for one euro with the AK performance card.
