Italian hero in 2006 World CupFabio Grosso, delivered success Frosinone promotion to A league. They are in Serie A after last in the 2018/2019 season.

Frosinone confirmed promotion to Serie A after winning 3-1 over Reggina in Week 35 of Serie B, at the Benito Stirpe Stadium, Tuesday (2/5/2023) early morning WIB. This result makes Il Canarin firmly at the top of the Serie B standings with 71 points.

They are four points ahead of Genoa in second place and 10 points from Bari in third. It is impossible for Bari to catch Frosinone’s points with three games remaining.

They at least finished in second place. That’s what made Frosinone seal a ticket to Serie A.

The top two Serie B teams are promoted straight away. Meanwhile, the third to eighth place is undergoing a play-off to fight for one remaining slot to move up the caste.

This score with Frosinone is arguably the best achievement for Grosso as a coach. This 45-year-old man, before coaching Frosinone since 2021, has coached the primavera teams Juventus, Bari, Hellas Verona, Brescia and the Swiss club, FC Sion.

Grosso switched to coach starting in 2014 or two years after retiring as a player at Juventus. Besides Juventus, Grosso also played for Olympique Lyon, Inter Milan and Palermo.

At Palermo, Grosso’s name began to fly, taking him to become a regular for the Italian national team. He was the key to Italy’s success in winning the 2006 World Cup.

Grosso scored an important goal in the semi-final against Germany to lead Italy to a 3-1 win. Meanwhile in the final, his penalty execution ensured that Gli Azzuri won after defeating France through a high-five round.
