Most recently at Huddersfield Town
1.FSV Mainz 05 have signed former Premier League coach Jan Siewert. The 37-year-old will not take over from Achim Beierlorzer for the coming season, but will become the junior head coach.
From 2017 to 2019, Siewert was responsible for Borussia Dortmund’s second team, before hiring as head coach at Huddersfield Town in January of last year. There he could not prevent relegation from the top English league and was released in August.
“It impressed me how Rouven Schröder and Volker Kersting tried to take care of me in the discussions. They showed me the role of the junior head coach and at the same time gave me the necessary time so that I can get my own picture of the task. Ultimately, I consciously chose this content-related and strategic task, ”Siewert is quoted in the press release. Volker Kersting, head of the NLZ, spoke of an “absolute dream solution.”
Jan Siewert, most recently head coach at @htafc, is the new junior head coach at # Mainz05. Welcome to Bruchweg! https://t.co/rto5bsTsRs
