On February 1 at 6 p.m., members of the Literary Academy of the Seaside Cities (PPLA) will meet literary scholar, critic and poet Sandra Ratniec, who will present the behind-the-scenes of the creative process from an idea to a tangible result – a book – both from the point of view of theory and by telling about her experience and what she observed .

Sandra Ratniece’s creative activity has been known to the wider public since the end of the 80s, when her first literary scientific articles, criticisms and also her first poems were published. Over the course of more than 30 years, her works have been published in the periodicals “Karogs”, “Kultūras Forums”, “Tīrraksts”, “Domuzīme”, “Jaunā Gaita”, the supplement “Kultūrzīme” of the newspaper “Latvijas Avīze”, as well as the Writers’ Association of Latvia (LRS). in the monthly “KONTEKSTS”, whose idea author and chief editor she was for some time. There were also publications on the “Satori” website. S. Ratniece’s contribution to Latvian literature has won various recognitions and awards, and she herself has been on the jury of various literary competitions, as well as being the head of the LRS youth literary association, the creative seminar “Aicinājums” and the literary editor of the newspaper “Jaunā Gaita”. Last year, shortly before Christmas, S. Ratniece’s second collection of poems “Postkastīte nenosutām sestuleim” was published (the first collection “Seemingly silent” was published in 2020).
