Logroño goes back to the past to revive its traditions and values recreating victory over the French siege.
Among the novelties of this year, the dramatization of the Open Council in the Santiago Church stands out, different contents for each battle, incorporating a narrator for its best follow-up, a Renaissance show room or catwalk and a new Spanish military camp in the Parliament Square.
The Renaissance festival continues in the Plaza de San Bartolomé, with music, theater and picnic, the illustrated model of Renaissance Logroño in the Santiago de Barriocepo Guard camp, and the detonation of a period cannon in the French camp.
Declared Festival of National Tourist Interest, more than 66 groups and 700 volunteers will be those who bring history to the streets of Logroño in the more than 300 events that have been programmed, and more than sixty of them aimed at children. ANDfamily type shows, with comedies, children’s parties, workshops and novelties such as a Fair Renaissance children’s because the little ones are also protagonists of these parties.
The party program kicks off the Thursday June 8 with the opening starting at 5.30 p.m. of the Renaissance market that can be found in La Merced, Cofradía del Pez, Barriocepo, Excuevas, Plaza de Santiago, Plaza de la Oca, Plaza del Mercado and Calle Mayor 99 parking.
The Friday day 9 the streets will be filled with tastings organized by the Peñas de Logroño and Regional House Federations, to which will be added those carried out by neighborhood and hotel associations in different areas.
The saturday june 10 Street activities, children’s events, the market, shows and tastings will continue. At 1.30 pm the delivery of Saint Barnabas insignia and at 5.15 pm the reception for the children’s representatives of the city. Act followed by Vespers in honor of San Bernabé, in the Redonda, and the Flower Offering / historical evocation in the walls of Revellín. Then there will be Luminaires distribution in La Redonda and fireworks by the winning company of the X International Fireworks Competition in San Mateo 2016.
You can’t miss The Saint Barnabas Clock, which will be performed on June 9, 10 and 11 at the Balcón del Ateneo Riojano.
The Sunday day 11 will be marked by the traditional Fish cast, and the acts in fulfillment of the Vote, such as the mass and procession, or the bullfighting celebration that recreates the Vote of San Bernabé running bulls, in the plaza from 18.00 in La Ribera.
The monday 12 the mass of Requiem for the Heroes of the defense of the City and the tasting of Stewed Bull in fulfillment of the Vow. To close the festivities, the triumphal parade of Tribute to the city of Logroño will take place in the late evening (Arrival of Carlos V and delivery of the flowers of Lis).
