Cinema future
This cinema is located in Friedrichshain at one of those locations that make Berlin special. Which have not yet been captured by investors and covered with characterless, but profitable, concrete doodles. However, that should change in March 2022. The lease expires and has not yet been extended. The future of the future remains uncertain at first. You can, in turn, use the time to watch sophisticated as well as entertaining films in one of the halls. Let it sprinkle would certainly also work, but does not do justice to the program. In addition to the beautiful cinema in Friedrichshain, there is a brewery on the industrial site behind the Ostkreuz, areas for exhibitions and a garden, all run by the same collective that is also responsible for the cinema. A lot of variety.

b-ware! shop cinema
The b-ware opened in 2005! Shop cinema in a former shop on Corinthstrasse. It had the charm of mixed colored bags: there is something for everyone, but you don’t have to like everything. The seats were armchairs, futons and sofas, the program included new, forgotten and lost things (a lot from the in-house Cinethek), counters and halls looked more improvised. In 2011, the operators planned to move to the Raw site. That failed. Instead, it ended up in Gärtnerstrasse, which may not be a culturally rebellious epicenter, but still very nice.
Fun fact: The show “The worst films of all time” is being recorded by and with Oliver Kalkofe in the shop cinema. Open your eyes, maybe you’ll meet him. The trip to the cinema in Friedrichshain should then be even more worthwhile.

Tilsit plays of light
Tilsiter is cheese, joke cookies may roar when they read the name. That’s right, but the cinema, founded in 1908, isn’t. Unlike its raw milk cousin, the small movie theater is not famous, but that doesn’t detract from the quality. Thanks to the varied program, gourmets can see their fill inside and wash down what they have experienced in the adjoining bar with freshly tapped beer. Fun fact: The operators: inside brew their own beer. The stuff that beautiful nightcaps are made of.

Kino Intimates
Two years ago, the last film was actually shown in the Intimate. Closure. It has been open again since 2021. Fortunately, for a moment it seemed as if the oldest cinema in Berlin, founded in 1907, would end up in the capital’s huge cinema cemetery. Instead, today you can see more and less well-known films in the (still) freshly built two halls. It’s always nice when a piece of cultural history is preserved.
Also interesting: The operators of the Tilsiter Lichtspiele took over the intimate and thus saved it. The future and the Pompeii open-air cinema are also part of their inventory.

UCI Luxe at Mercedes Platz
There are quite a few representatives of the UCI cinema chain in Berlin, including the one at Mercedes Platz. The entertainment chunk could hardly be more suitable as a location. At that time it was still an industrial area of the Ostgüterbahnhof, today a shopping and fun mile. After all, goods are still being transported from A to B there, only smaller ones. If you want to lower your stress level after a trip to the East Side Mall, you can get a little sprinkled in the UCI. You can also find peace with HD surround sound.
