AppSpotify: from 2023 it will be more expensive

What do Amazon, Apple and Netflix have in common? They have all raised the prices for their streaming services. Spotify, on the other hand, remains stable here, but that will change over the next year.

Spotify publishes good quarterly data

Spotify also has its premiere of the weekend quarterly figures announced that it reads well. In the last quarter, the number of paying users increased from 188 to 195 million in three months, so slightly more than the company expected. By the end of the year, Spotify expects to have 202 million subscribers. The service therefore wants to have a total of 479 million users, after 456 million at the end of September. And this in times when customers have to tighten their belts due to inflation. It’s also because you’re sticking to the previous subscription prices. But it shouldn’t be too long. Sales of the Swedes increased in the third quarter by 21% year-on-year to a whopping three billion dollars. Advertising revenue growth slowed significantly, increasing 19% to $ 385 million. The bottom line is that Spotify made € 22 million

A price increase will come

During the question and answer session that followed, Daniel Ek, CEP of Spotify, was also asked how inflation will affect the service. There are no plans to raise the price this year. Due to the current situation, however, it will not be possible to get around it. In concrete terms, this means that an increase in subscription prices is expected for 2023. Ek declined to provide specific details.
